We are trapped by a plethora of expectations that we define for ourselves and others, as well
as those that others define for us. They are ingrained in us, and we behave and act every day
without realizing the impact they have on all aspects of our lives, including relationships,
physical health, finances, and so on, resulting in frustration, sacrifice, anxiety, and even
depression.
We are trained to have high expectations. Information in books, podcasts, and online sources
encourages us to have high expectations. Right from childhood, we are taught to have high
assumptions as they make us succeed and lead happier lives. We also have high expectations
of others.
Have you ever tried to figure out why you’re so disappointed or angry after a failed attempt at
something? What is the source of your emotions? Do you see many conflicts in your
relationships? Is your life unnecessarily stressful? Why are you unable to relate well with
other people? Are you able to experience happiness?
Looking back on many of my own unmet expectations, I realized that instead of considering
where they came from and managing them with techniques and solutions that I will share
with you in this book, which are based on a great deal of scientific and proven research, I
simply blamed myself or others for the fact that they did not work as expected.
This book is a compilation of facts about expectations as well as methods and solutions to get
rid of them. It discusses when they begin, why we establish them, and what to do in their
place. If you want to stop your emotions and thoughts from fluctuating and design the life
you desire and deserve, one of the major thinking patterns in our daily lives must be broken.
Expectations bind us together in a sort of co-dependency since we seek to set, meet, or
delegate them to others every day. Through this whole book, I will encourage you to consider
the expectations you face every day, as well as what occurs if and when those expectations
are not satisfied. Each chapter will provide additional insight into how expectations affect our
lives in a profound and pervasive way. You’ll learn how to manage your expectations and
how to live a free life.
I had a great time writing this book; I hope you have a fantastic time reading it.
